Building Community Through Dance

No Experience Needed

Everyone starts somewhere. Our meetups welcome absolute beginners. You'll find instructors who understand that picking up new steps takes patience, and that's totally fine.

Real Community, Not Sales Pitch

We're here because we love dance. These aren't commercial venues designed to squeeze money from you — they're gatherings run by people who genuinely want to share the joy of movement.

Across Ireland

Whether you're in Dublin's city center, enjoying the coast in Dún Laoghaire, or exploring Cork's vibrant scene, there's a dance social near you. We cover the main cities plus smaller coastal towns.

Your Own Pace

Sit out a dance if you need a break. Chat with others. Take an extra week to practice. There's zero pressure here. You're dancing for yourself, not to impress anyone.

Our Journey

How This Started

From a few friends dancing on a Dublin quay to a network spanning the Irish coast.

2019

First Dublin Gathering

A small group of friends decided Sunday evenings needed more movement. We started meeting by the Liffey, dancing to music from someone's phone speaker.

2021

Expanding the Community

Word spread. More people joined. We moved to proper venues and started organizing regular kizomba and salsa nights. Dublin's over-45 dance scene was waking up.

2023

Reaching the Coast

Dún Laoghaire's beachside became a summer favorite. Cork joined in with themed nights. We weren't just Dublin anymore — we were becoming an Irish movement.

2026

Sharing the Guide

Today we're documenting everything. Guides on kizomba basics, venue lists, tips for beginners, and stories from dancers like you. Making it easier for others to find their place in this community.

Real Stories

What Dancers Are Saying

"I hadn't danced in thirty years. Honestly I was nervous about joining, but everyone was so welcoming. After a few weeks the steps started clicking and I realized I was actually having fun. Now I don't miss a Thursday night in Dublin."

— Margaret, 52

"The beachside gatherings in Dún Laoghaire changed everything for me. It's not just dancing — it's the friendships, the sea breeze, the feeling of being alive again. I've met people from all over and we're planning a group trip to Cork next month."

— David, 58

"What I love is there's no judgment here. I'm clumsy with the kizomba steps and probably always will be, but nobody cares. Everyone's just there because they want to move and connect. That's rare to find."

— Sarah, 47

"I didn't expect to meet my partner at a dance social, but here we are. More importantly, I found this incredible community of people my age who are genuinely interested in staying active and having a good time. Cork's themed nights are brilliant."

— James, 54

What We Believe In

Core Values That Guide Us

Inclusion First

No judgment. No pressure to be perfect. Dance is for everyone, regardless of background, experience level, or how your body moves. You belong here exactly as you are.

Authentic Community

We're real people gathering for real reasons. Not a commercial operation trying to extract money. Just dancers who want to share movement and friendship with others like them.

Wellness Through Movement

Dance isn't just exercise — it's connection, confidence, joy. We believe that moving your body with others improves your whole life, not just your fitness level.

Accessibility

We document everything so you can find what works for you. Guides, venue lists, timing, what to expect. We're removing barriers to joining, not creating them.

Questions?

Common Questions About Getting Started

New to this? These answers should help. If you don't see your question, feel free to reach out.

01

Do I need a dance partner?

Not necessarily. Many socials have rotating partners or group settings. Some people come solo and meet partners there. It's totally fine either way. Just let the organizers know when you arrive.

02

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in. Most people wear casual trousers or jeans with a nice top. Dance shoes help but aren't essential when starting out. The dress code is relaxed — focus on comfort, not fashion.

03

How do I find the nearest gathering?

Check our venue guides for Dublin, Dún Laoghaire, and Cork. Each guide lists specific locations, times, and what style of dance happens where. Most events are weekend evenings or Thursday nights.

04

I'm really nervous about being bad at dancing.

Everyone feels this way at first. But here's the thing — nobody's judging you. These gatherings aren't performances. You're dancing for yourself, not for an audience. Take a guide with you if it helps. Chat with others beforehand. You'll feel better once you start moving.

05

Is there a cost to attend?

This depends on the specific venue and event. Some socials are free or donation-based. Others have a small cover charge. Our guides list the typical cost for each location so you know what to expect.

06

Can I bring a friend who's not into dancing?

Absolutely. Many people come to watch, socialize, and enjoy the music without dancing. The atmosphere is inclusive. Your friend might even decide to join in after watching for a bit.

Still have questions? We're here to help.
