Questions About Our Dance Socials?
Everything you need to know about weekend dance meetups, salsa gatherings, and kizomba socials across Dublin, Dún Laoghaire, and Cork
Not at all! Most of our dancers are in the same boat when they start. We run beginner sessions before each social where we cover the basics — just 30-45 minutes of guided instruction focused on simple steps and how to connect with a partner. Everyone's there to learn and have fun, not to show off.
Kizomba is slower, closer, and more about smooth connection and hip movement — it feels intimate and romantic. Salsa is faster, more energetic, and involves more footwork and spins. We run both at our Dublin gatherings and beachside socials in Dún Laoghaire, so you can try both and see what you love. Most people end up enjoying both, just in different ways.
Our Dublin kizomba gatherings run most Saturdays in the city centre, starting around 8 PM. The beachside socials in Dún Laoghaire are seasonal (April through September) on Sunday evenings when the weather's good. Cork's themed dance nights happen monthly. Check our calendar or contact us for the exact schedule — it can shift with holidays and special events.
Come solo — that's how most people start! Part of what makes these socials special is rotating partners throughout the night. You'll dance with different people, meet folks from across Dublin, Cork, and the coast, and build real friendships. Plenty of our regulars came alone the first time and now they're part of our community.
Wear whatever makes you comfortable — smart casual is perfect. For shoes, you need something smooth-soled (leather or suede bottoms) so you can pivot and slide. Dance shoes are great but not essential when you're starting out; many people use old leather shoes or buy affordable dance shoes online. We'll have tips on shoe brands at your first session.
We design our events specifically for adults over 45. The vibe is mature, relaxed, and focused on connection rather than competition. That said, we're flexible — if you're a bit younger or older, just reach out. What matters most is that you're looking for genuine social dancing and a welcoming community.
