Specialized Knowledge & Experience

Over a decade developing authentic dance communities across Irish coastal regions

Kizomba & Salsa Programming

Deep expertise in authentic Latin dance traditions. She's created sustainable programming that respects cultural roots while adapting to the preferences of mature dancers across Dublin, Cork, and coastal towns.

Over-45 Community Building

Specialized in creating inclusive spaces for mature adults. She understands the unique needs, preferences, and social dynamics of this demographic — and builds events that genuinely serve them.

Venue & Location Strategy

Expert in identifying and activating coastal venues for dance socials. Her work spans beachside locations in Dún Laoghaire, city venues in Dublin, and themed spaces in Cork and beyond.

Content & Guide Development

She's written practical, actionable guides for both beginners and organizers. Her work translates on-the-ground experience into accessible, authentic information that helps people find and enjoy dance communities.

Event Sustainability

Siobhan consults with instructors, venue managers, and local tourism boards to ensure events are profitable, welcoming, and genuinely reflect each location's character. Her events last because they're built to work.

Stakeholder Collaboration

She bridges dancers, instructors, venues, and local organizations. Her collaborative approach has built trust across Ireland's dance community and made her a go-to consultant for new social dance initiatives.

From First Dance Night to Community Network

2010

Discovery & First Night

Siobhan attended her first salsa night at a Dublin city centre venue. She found a thriving but disconnected community of dancers over 45 — talented people with nowhere regular to dance together. That gap became her mission.

2012

Formal Training & First Meetup

She completed her certification in Social Dance Programming at the Irish Dance Council. Then she launched her first informal meetup in Dún Laoghaire with just eight participants. Small start, genuine energy.

2014-2018

Expansion Across Coastal Towns

What started as one meetup grew into a network. She expanded across Dublin, Cork, and seven other coastal towns. Each location got tailored programming that reflected its character. By 2018, she was hosting events regularly across the country.

2019-Present

40+ Socials, 300+ Monthly Participants

The grassroots effort became a genuine movement. Over 40 weekend dance socials now operate under her guidance, with monthly attendance reaching 300+ dancers. She's become a trusted consultant for venues, instructors, and new organizers entering the space.

2024-Present

weldout Limited & Content Creation

As Senior Community Dance Specialist at weldout Limited, she leverages her on-the-ground expertise to create detailed, practical guides. Her work helps new dancers navigate Ireland's weekend dance social scene, and helps organizers build sustainable events.

Why This Work Matters

Siobhan's philosophy is simple: authentic dance communities don't happen by accident. They're built on respect for cultural traditions, genuine understanding of who you're serving, and honest conversations with the people who make events work — instructors, venues, and the dancers themselves.

She doesn't treat the over-45 community as a niche market. She treats them as serious dancers with real preferences, social needs, and decades of life experience. That respect shows in how she builds events. No tokenism. No dumbed-down programming. Just good venues, good music, and people who actually want to be there.

Her beachside socials in Dún Laoghaire aren't gimmicks — they're carefully chosen locations that enhance the experience. Her themed nights in Cork aren't random — they're built around what local dancers actually ask for. And her Dublin socials aren't crowded, impersonal cattle markets — they're communities where regulars know each other and newcomers feel welcome.

That consistency, that attention to detail, that respect for the culture — that's why her events last. That's why people come back. And that's why she's become the person venues and instructors call when they want to get serious about serving Ireland's mature dance community.

"Every location has its own character. Dún Laoghaire isn't Dublin isn't Cork. You respect that difference, you program for it, you listen to the dancers in that community — and you build something real."
